We adhere to the strict policy that all texts authored by humans should be translated by humans. However, we sometimes use machine translation for preliminary versions of target documents in order to save time. All translations are made with the utmost attention to the cultural background, linguistic features and underlying ideas of the source text. All translations are proofread.
Trados and other translation memories
Most of our freelancers and suppliers use Trados and Trados-compatible software (Wordfast, Memo Q) to assist them in their work. This means that previously translated documents are always saved in the computer memory. If anything identical or similar comes up in the source text in a subsequent project, Trados will assure consistency, saving time and resources. This does not, however, apply to classified information which is always deleted from our computers on the client's demand as soon as a relevant project is finished.
Languages
As mentioned in our home page, we started as an English-Russian translation business. Very soon we discovered that the Russian-speaking community included many of those for whom Russian was not their first language. Therefore we decided that we should be more diversified in addressing people's individual needs. Consequently, apart from Russian translations, we started to offer services for those who came from neighbouring countries Lithanian, Latvian, Polish, Romanian etc). And then we thought, Why not cover other languages as well. So, nowadays, we not only specialise in Russian translations (which remain our strong point!) but also deal with any language in the world - thanks to our extensive freelancer database.
Our rates
Our rates depend on the amount and difficulty of the source text. For 'standard' or 'general matter' texts the price is usually around 6p per word. However, for large documents or for documents with repeating contents, this figure may be lower. The exact cost will be given in our quotation.
